Faculty members from the Faculty of Education met with high school students during Library Week.


At the panel titled “The Prescription for Dreams and Thoughts: The Healing Library,” held at Bor Şehit Ramazan Konuş Science High School, faculty members from the Department of Turkish Language Education at the Faculty of Education, Dr. Suna Canlı Can, Dr. Yonca Koçmar Demirci, and educator-writer Ülkü Demiray, participated as speakers.

Ülkü Demiray, who spoke first, addressed the strong bond between literature and humanity through selected examples from Turkish and world literature, drawing attention to the healing effect of books on the individual. Following this, Suna Canlı Can evaluated the contributions of fantasy literature, which is a focal point of interest for children and young people, to the development of young people through its scientific, philosophical, and artistic aspects. Finally, Yonca Koçmar Demirci addressed the relationship between libraries and reading culture, emphasizing the decisive role of spaces in reading culture, and shared unique library examples from Turkey and around the world.

The event was attended by high school students and teachers, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Education at NÖHÜ, Prof. Dr. Yasemin YAVUZER, and the Vice Dean, Assoc. Dr. Semirhan GÖKÇE, Murat BAŞKAN, the director of Bor Halil Nuri Bey District Public Library, and Yasin ŞANLITÜRK, the director of Bor Şehit Ramazan Konuş Science High School, participated. The panel concluded with the presentation of plaques and certificates of participation to the speakers.
