Course Objective
This course aims to examine the relationship between prominent novels in Eastern and Western literature and their film adaptations from a comparative perspective. It seeks to analyze the transformations of novels in their cinematic adaptations by evaluating the differences and similarities between literary and visual narrative forms. The course will explore how literary works from different cultures are adapted into cinema, the narrative techniques encountered in adaptation processes, and the linguistic and cultural elements involved. Additionally, the interaction between literature and cinema will be addressed through scientific analyses within the framework of adaptation theories. In this context, the course aims to understand the literary, cultural, and artistic dynamics of societies through the film adaptations of selected classical and contemporary literary works. Furthermore, in the context of the relationship between film studies and literary works, intertextual interactions, narrative structures, and cultural contexts will be assessed from a comparative perspective. Thus, students will develop their skills in both literary analysis and film interpretation, gaining a deeper understanding of the interdisciplinary relationship between literature and cinema.
