General Information
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Bor Vocational School, Department of Electricity and Energy, Alternative Energy Resources Technology Program has started its activities by accepting associate degree students as of the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

The Alternative Energy Resources Technology Associate Degree Program is a 2-year program consisting of 4 semesters, each with a 30 ECTS value. One semester ECTS value represents the student's 30-hour workload for each semester.

The academic staff of our program consists of 3 lecturers.

In the program, associate degree students start to get used to the program by taking compulsory courses such as English, Turkish Language and Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History in the first year, as well as Direct Current Circuits, Measurement Technique, Introduction to Alternative Energy Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Alternative Current Circuits, Transformers and Direct Current Machines, Computer Aided Design, Basic Electrical and Electronics courses. In the second year, they focus on the required courses such as Asynchronous and Synchronous Machines, Solar Power Plants, Electricity Generation from Wind Energy, System Analysis and Design, Hydro Energy Systems, Nuclear Energy Technologies, Electric Energy Transmission and Distribution and choose elective courses according to their areas of interest. At the end of the second year, students who successfully pass the courses graduate from the program as Alternative Energy Resources Technology Technicians.

Aims and Objectives

Aim:
Our program aims to train Alternative Energy Resources Technology Technicians who are professionally equipped to be employed in the public and private sectors, who can follow technological developments, who are competent to meet the needs of the industry, and who provide high-standard education on topics such as the use of alternative energy resources in the sector and the knowledge of the systems required for these resources, and who can work in other sectors, primarily in the energy sector. Our laboratory facilities provide students with the opportunity to reinforce their lessons in practice.

Goal:
The goal of our program is to train technicians who have sufficient infrastructure in technical subjects, who can interpret and evaluate data using the basic level of knowledge and skills they have acquired in their field, who can define problems, carry out professional plans and projects and develop solution suggestions.

In addition to these general goals, the Alternative Energy Resources Technology Program aims to train personnel who can create safety and occupational security and transfer these to their team at the same level, follow developments in their profession, use computers in their profession, read and interpret technical drawings and professional schemes, understand, interpret and transfer instructions received from upper units to lower units, organize work, perform applications requiring advanced technology and features and transfer them to lower units, work in teams, take responsibility and risks, establish verbal-written and technical communication, make decisions, perform needs analysis, solve problems, write reports, establish their own business, use equipment, perform maintenance and repair, and keep records.

In addition; Our program aims to raise individuals who are respectful of social values, socially responsible, have universal, social and professional ethical awareness, are aware of the necessity of lifelong learning, follow developments in science and technology and constantly renew themselves.

Level-Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ) and Awarded Degree: Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded the ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES TECHNICIAN ASSOCIATE DEGREE degree.

Department of Electricity and Energy, Alternative Energy Resources Technology Associate Degree program is a 2-year program consisting of 120 ECTS credits. The program includes the ECTS credit conditions and level qualifications determined for the second cycle defined in the “Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Europe (QF-EHEA)” of the Bologna Process and the “Level 5” qualifications defined in the “Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Turkey (TYYÇ)”; at the same time, it provides the "Level 5" qualifications defined in the "European Framework for Lifelong Learning Qualifications (EQF-LLL)".

Admission Requirements
Turkish students are placed in the Alternative Energy Resources Technology Program according to their preference order in the Higher Education Entrance Exam YKS score type conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

International students are accepted to the program as a result of the evaluation of their direct applications to the university.
