General Information Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Department of Political Science and International Relations was established in 2010 as the fifth department within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and started to provide doctoral education in 2021. There are 1 Professor, 5 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor, 5 Dr. Research Assistants and 1 Research Assistant in the department. Political Science and International Relations PhD Program encourages participation at lecture, research and project level; in addition to the theoretical knowledge, it aimed to gain the professional and technical knowledge, skills and competencies needed in working life; it includes an educational philosophy focused on creating value in the light of professional and scientific ethical principles. Recognized nationally and internationally for its education, training and research quality and preferred in the first place; conducts scientific studies at local, national and international level for the solution of social problems with its students and academics; pioneer in using educational technologies; It has adopted as a vision to be a program that educates individuals who are competent in their field, researcher, innovative, creative and respectful to ethical principles. Aims and ObjectivesThe aim of the Political Science and International Relations PhD programme is primarily to increase the professional knowledge of the discipline of international relations. In parallel with the changes in the international environment and the academic development of the discipline, it is aimed to constantly renew the programme, to produce national and international publications and projects, and to include experts and young academics in social life as members of the knowledge society. Students who want to work as experts or managers in various fields of politics, civil society and public administration and the market are prepared for academic careers in different branches of social and administrative sciences, especially political science and international relations. In order to solve the problems faced by institutions and organisations in different fields of public sector, civil society and politics and to contribute to their restructuring, the ability to conduct research, produce information and projects is gained. Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ) and Degrees AwardedIn order to obtain a doctorate degree, the student must successfully complete at least six courses, proficiency exam, thesis proposal course, specialisation course, complete a total of 240 ECTS, at least 30 ECTS per semester, and prepare and successfully present his/her thesis. The programme meets the ECTS credit requirements and level qualifications specified for the ‘Level 8’ qualifications defined in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), as well as the ‘Level 8’ qualifications defined in the ‘European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL)’. Graduates who successfully complete the programme are awarded a PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations. Admission Requirements Candidates who meet the following conditions can apply to the programme: - Candidates with a master's degree with thesis who have at least 65 points from ALES in equal weight score type or equivalent scores from the exams determined by the Council of Higher Education for the ALES base score in this score type and whose thesis master's degree grade point average is at least 80 out of 100 -Candidates who apply with a bachelor's degree diploma, those who have at least 80 points from ALES from the verbal score type or equivalent scores from the exams determined by the Council of Higher Education for the ALES base score in this score type and whose undergraduate graduation grade point average is at least 80 out of 100 can apply. In determining the validity period of ALES score, the period determined by YÖK is taken as basis.
