Course Objective
The aim of this course is to transfer knowledge to students about the properties of wastewater, treatment methods, and treatment with physical and biological methods.

Definition of wastewater and an overview of sustainable wastewater treatment methods; Wastewater characteristics and flowrate calculations; Physical treatment units and design: Screening, Grit removal equipment, Primary sedimentation tanks, Secondary sedimentation tanks, Biological treatment: Activated sludge systems, General Information, Treatment methods, Sizing principles, Case project solutions, Aeration and aeration methods in activated sludge systems, Case project solutions, Biofilm Systems: Trickling filters, General Information, Sizing principles, Case project solutions, Biodiscs: General Information, Sizing principles, Case project solutions, Simple Treatment Methods: Design of mechanical aerated ponds; Design of facultative aeration and stabilization ponds, Case project solutions, Design of anaerobic ponds, Examples of Wastewater Treatment Plants in our country: Case project solutions; Advanced wastewater treatment methods; Wastewater treatment and package treatment plants for small communities; Water Sludge disposal; An Overview of natural wastewater treatment systems; sewerage project.
