Course Objective
The objective of this course is to enable ELT pre-service teachers to plan, teach, and evaluate lessons in real school settings by preparing curriculum-aligned lesson plans, implementing instruction, using appropriate materials and information and communication technologies, applying assessment tools, and conducting self and peer evaluation. Additionally, pre-service teachers are expected to experiment with different methods and techniques in the teaching process to develop more effective teaching strategies.
Brief Content of the Course
This course provides school-based teaching practice for ELT pre-service teachers. It covers placement procedures, orientation, and collaboration with mentor teachers; exploration of the school environment and classroom culture; systematic lesson and learner observation and report writing; reflective practice; lesson planning aligned with the curriculum; teaching practice and observation of the teacher candidate; peer and self-evaluation; classroom management and strategies for dealing with undesired student behaviors; observation of instructional practices such as questioning, giving instructions, and explaining; and examination of assessment and evaluation tools, including evaluating the quality of teacher-made tests. The course concludes with an overall evaluation of the practicum process in cooperation with the lecturer, supervising teacher, and practicum students.
