2Know the importance of energy and nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, water) in healthy eating and metabolism.
3Know the importance of an adequate and balanced diet.
4Know the daily energy, carbohydrate, protein, and fat needs for different ages and genders.
5Know the appropriate types and amounts of food according to individual needs.
6Assess general nutritional status and refer individuals to a registered dietitian when necessary.
7Explain the purchasing, preparation, storage, and cooking procedures for foods.
