Course Objective
To know civilization and its meaning and framework. To understand the discussions of civilization and culture and civilization in the East and West. To understand civilization and the elements that create and affect it. To know the environment and sources in which Islamic civilization was born, the stages and basic features of Islamic civilization. To know the spiritual dynamics of the Islamic Civilization, value production and the basic values of the Islamic Civilization.
Brief Content of the Course
Social and economic life in pre-Islamic Arab society. Hz. Social and cultural situation and development of the Prophet's Period. Scientific and cultural developments during the period of the four caliphs. Scientific and cultural developments during the Umayyad period. Scientific and cultural developments during the Abbasid Period. Translation activities and their effects. Baytul Hikme. Andalusian Civilization. Emergence, development and effects. Turks and Turkish states in Islamic Civilization. Karakhanids, Ghaznavids, Seljuks and Ottomans. Turkish influences in Islamic Civilization. The current situation and future of Islamic Civilization.
