Course Objective
The aim of this course is a field that examines how media contents are interpreted, given meaning and received by the audience. This course aims to analyze media consumption through audience theories, media effects, cultural context and individual experiences.
Brief Content of the Course
This course deals with how media texts are interpreted and given meaning by the audience. The effects of reception theories, audience research, cultural context, and individual experiences on media consumption are examined. Discussions are held on topics such as Stuart Hall's coding/decoding model, the concept of active audience, and how media texts are received by different social groups. In addition to the theoretical framework, the course aims to provide students with a critical perspective by making sample analyzes on today's media content.
