Course Objective
To advance students' technical skills on their individual instruments to an advanced level.
Brief Content of the Course
Violin: Basic knowledge and skills of violin playing; correct posture, proper bow hold, basic bow techniques, legato practices; left-hand finger exercises, two-hand coordination; performance of small-scale national and international repertoire. Viola: Basic knowledge and skills of viola playing; bow and instrument grip; basic bow techniques; left-hand finger exercises (1–4), two-hand coordination; small-scale polyphonic solo or accompanied national and international performances. Violoncello: Basic cello knowledge and skills; correct posture and instrument hold; basic spring and legato bow techniques; left-hand finger exercises; two-hand coordination; performance of small-scale national and international works. Bağlama: Basic right- and left-hand exercises; simple folk melodies (e.g., Hüseyni) and other authorities; introduction to school music repertoire. Ud: Overview of Ud music, historical development, significance in Turkish music; technical aspects, instrument handling, posture, sound field, plectrum techniques; I. position exercises, note placement, left-hand four-finger techniques; etudes including quartets, octaves, sustained notes; performance of small melodic pieces.
