Course Objective
To develop students' technical skills on their individual instruments to an advanced level.
Brief Content of the Course
Violin: Reinforcing the learned techniques, knowledge, and skills through permanent and transitional exercises in a new position; playing in a new position both permanently and transitionally; applying détaché, legato, martelé, and staccato bowing techniques in combination in the new position; playing scales in various keys covering learned positions with different bowing techniques; performing pieces of national and international level appropriate to the technical and musical skills. Viola: Monitoring and maintaining behaviors acquired in the second grade; transitional exercises in positions I-II-III; combined use of martelé and staccato bowing techniques in the relevant positions; playing double stops and scales appropriate to the level; performing national and international polyphonic solo or accompanied works. Cello: Reinforcing the learned techniques, knowledge, and skills through permanent and transitional exercises in a new position; playing in a new position both permanently and transitionally; applying détaché, legato, martelé, and staccato bowing techniques in combination in the new position; playing scales in various keys covering learned positions with different bowing techniques; performing pieces of national and international level appropriate to the technical and musical skills. Double Bass: Reinforcing learned techniques, knowledge, and skills through permanent and transitional exercises in a new position; playing in a new position both permanently and transitionally; applying détaché, legato, martelé, and staccato bowing techniques in combination in the new position; basic knowledge of vibrato; playing scales in various keys covering learned positions with different bowing techniques; performing pieces of national and international level appropriate to technical and musical skills. Bağlama: Playing makam with a Zeybek style and practicing behaviors related to this style. Flute: Triple tongue technique; concerto form; sight-reading exercises; memorization exercises on small-scale pieces; performing technical etudes and scales with various tempos and articulations using a metronome; intonation exercises and applying these exercises on pieces and etudes. Guitar: Continuing individual technical and musical development with apoyando, tirando, arpeggio, barre, legato (ascending-descending), and ornamentation (grace note, appoggiatura, mordent, grupetto), glissando techniques; performing etudes and musical pieces incorporating these techniques; three-octave single-note scales; introduction to pizzicato, tremolo, rasgueado, and golpe techniques; performing appropriate exercises and etudes including these techniques; performing works from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary periods. Oud: Teaching Saba and Bestenigar maqams and performing example etudes and pieces from easy to difficult; performing works in forms such as peşrev, saz semaisi, medhal, longa, oyun havası, şarkı, yürük semai, karnatık, developing Turkish music repertoire; transposition exercises; exercises written on different frets; chord techniques; performing pieces in various maqams and improvisation (taksim) exercises.
