Course Objective
In this course, the aim is to develop the language skills of students who, despite having no identifiable mental or physical disabilities, have not acquired age-appropriate reading, writing, speaking, listening, and visual literacy skills.
Brief Content of the Course
In this course, the focus is on preparing and implementing enriched language teaching activities aimed at developing the language skills of students who, despite having no identifiable mental or physical disabilities, have not acquired age-appropriate reading, writing, speaking, listening, and visual literacy skills. It also addresses techniques, methods, and activities for teaching literacy to children whose native language is different. Furthermore, it emphasizes how to provide instruction to students from different socio-economic backgrounds who enter school with varying levels of prior knowledge and therefore experience difficulties in acquiring and using language skills, as well as to those who, due to various reasons in school or home environments (such as frequent teacher changes, difficulties in adaptation, inadequate home conditions, domestic violence, or family conflict), fail to acquire and use language skills at a sufficient level. Additionally, the course covers approaches, methods, techniques, and practices used in teaching Turkish as a foreign or second language to children who have migrated.
