Course Objective

The aim of the Sociology of Tourism course is to introduce students to the impact of tourism on the economic and social structures of countries, particularly Türkiye's socioeconomic structure, based on the understanding that tourism is a social phenomenon. It also aims to provide students with an understanding of tourism's relationship with other disciplines, the dimensions of tourism, its importance at national and international levels, and its development process. Another objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the tourism values of their region. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain and interpret the basic concepts of tourism, the historical development of tourism, the types of tourism, the relationship between tourism and other disciplines, the relationship between industrial revolutions and tourism, the impact of tourism on social and economic structures, the place of tourism in Turkish history, and its impact on Turkey's social and economic structure.
