Course Objective
For classroom teacher candidates; To introduce the teaching program of elementary school mathematics course and contemporary learning-teaching approaches and to apply these approaches in classroom settings.
Brief Content of the Course
Fractions, students' difficulties in learning fractions, different meanings of fractions, fraction models, equivalence, comparison, sorting, operations with fractions, decimal fractions, operations with decimal fractions, sample activities suitable for program gains; Geometry, development of geometric thinking in children, 2 and 3 dimensional geometry topics and their teaching, sample activities appropriate to the geometry gains in the program; Measurement and measurement, the development of the idea of measuring in children, dimension, area, volume, time measurements, weighing, parentheses, sample activities suitable for measurement gains in the program; Data management, tables and graphs, sample events suitable for data acquisition in the program.
