Course Objective
The aim of the Geographic Information Systems course is to provide technical candidates with the management of all kinds of location data/information with the help of special databases in order to integrate map-based information with information technology, basic information about geographic information systems (GIS), their functions and components, and competence in using various GIS software and GIS in general subjects.
Brief Content of the Course
Basic Concepts, General Principles and Components of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GIS Purpose Data, Data-Information, Spatial Data (Graphics and Attributes), Database Operating System, GIS Hardware, GIS Functions: Data Entry Function, Data Analysis, GIS Statistics and Reporting, GIS Dynamic Maps, GIS Subsystems, GIS Applications, Use of Geographic Information Systems in Urban Planning Studies, Geographic Information System Applications in Local Governments, Understanding the concept of sustainability and its relationship with other related concepts (environment, poverty, migration, social change, education and the future of humanity, etc.).
