Course Objective
It is aimed that the student will learn the problem perspective and basic concepts related to social problems, theoretical approaches and various social problems in the world and in Turkey and develop suggestions for solutions.
Brief Content of the Course
The concept of social responsibility, as the name suggests, refers to the responsibilities of individuals towards the society. It can be called the fulfilment of the responsibilities that individuals should create in order to ensure social balance in society. In other words, social responsibility is the gathering and acting of individuals, non-governmental organisations and the private sector around a common goal without considering profit or personal interest. Volunteering is a two-way movement that contributes to the psycho-social development of young people. In addition to the social benefit obtained as a result of voluntary work, the interpersonal skills of young people who take part in these activities develop, young people understand the meaning of sharing, learn teamwork and cooperation, gain new life experiences, have the opportunity to meet people with different experiences, learn to organise, get to know different institutions, better understand the society and the world, develop their value judgments and increase their self-confidence. Social responsibility is carried out entirely on a voluntary basis and is aimed at encouraging the society to do good, to be helpful and to invite people to act sensitively about a special issue. With the awareness of social responsibility, it is possible to eliminate negative situations that may occur in society. With this course, the struggle against social problems, raising awareness of young people and understanding the importance of benevolence and unity in the conduct of volunteering activities.
