"Practical Water Literacy Training for Sustainable Water Management" was organized

Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Bor Vocational School held an "Applied Water Literacy Training for Sustainable Water Management" to raise awareness about the conscious use of water resources and sustainable water management.

Organized in collaboration with the NÖHÜ Innovation and Career Club, the training took place on April 27, 2026, at the Bor Vocational School with high participation. During the training, Prof. Dr. Sevgi DEMİREL, Director of the University's Environmental Problems Application and Research Center, met with participants and shared comprehensive information about the protection and sustainable use of water resources and the environmental impacts of individual water consumption habits.

The practical training covered water footprint, the effects of climate change on water resources, water conservation methods, and examples of practices to increase water efficiency in daily life. Through the activities, participants had the opportunity to gain awareness of individual and societal responsibilities in the sustainable management of water.

Prof. Dr. Sevgi DEMİREL emphasized that the protection of water resources is the shared responsibility of all individuals, not just institutions, and stated that water literacy is an important tool for a sustainable future. He stated that raising awareness, especially among young people, plays a critical role in preventing future water crises.

At the end of the event, students exchanged views by asking questions about sustainable water management. The training, which attracted great interest, concluded by contributing to increasing the participants' awareness of environmental sustainability.

Through such awareness-raising activities, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University continues to contribute to the dissemination of environmental awareness and the development of a sustainable living culture in society in line with sustainable development goals.
