LEARNING OBJECTIVES

KNOWLEDGE OBJECTİVES:

  1. Should know the normal structure of the oral, dental, maxillofacial, and related tissues at the organ, tissue, cellular, and molecular levels.
  2. Should comprehend the normal physiological functions of the oral-dental system at the organ, tissue, cellular, and molecular levels.
  3. Should understand the normal anatomical and physiological changes occurring in oral, dental, and maxillofacial structures with aging.
  4. Should be able to describe the mechanisms of normal structural and functional changes in oral and dental tissues at the cellular level.
  5. Should comprehend the epidemiological principles and basic statistical methods of the most common oral, dental, and maxillofacial diseases in the community.
  6. Should be able to describe the mechanisms of pathological structural and functional changes in oral and dental tissues at the cellular level (genetic, metabolic, toxic, developmental, neoplastic, autoimmune, degenerative, traumatic).
  7. Should be able to explain the social, economic, cultural, traumatic, and stress-related factors that negatively affect oral and dental health.
  8. Should be able to list the clinical, laboratory, imaging, and pathological findings of oral, dental, and maxillofacial diseases at international, national, and regional levels.
  9. Should be able to describe the scientific methods used in the treatment and rehabilitation of such diseases.
  10. Should be able to list the first and emergency treatments of the most common oral and dental diseases that pose a threat to public health.
  11. Should be able to explain the organization, financing, and delivery models of healthcare services.
  12. Should know the legal regulations and ethical rules governing dental practice.
  13. Should be able to explain ethical concepts and principles related to the profession of dentistry.
  14. Should have the professional knowledge required to participate in international student exchange programs.

SKİLLS OBJECTİVES:

  1. Should be able to take a detailed and reliable patient history and perform a systematic review for the diagnosis of oral, dental, and maxillofacial diseases.
  2. Should be able to perform a complete and detailed examination of the oral, dental, and maxillofacial region.
  3. Should be able to perform the basic interventional procedures required for diagnosis and treatment in dentistry.
  4. Should be able to diagnose and provide appropriate treatment for common oral, dental, and maxillofacial diseases.
  5. Should be able to evaluate patients and individuals with a holistic approach, considering family and community contexts.
  6. Should be able to implement specific follow-up protocols according to age, gender, and risk factors.
  7. Should be able to develop solutions aimed at protecting and improving the oral and dental health of the community.
  8. Should be able to effectively use current scientific data in professional practice through evidence-based applications.
  9. Should be able to address oral and dental health problems of patients and the community using scientific methods.
  10. Should have access to up-to-date information resources and possess lifelong learning skills for personal and professional development.
  11. Should be able to design, conduct, analyze, and report scientific research in the field of oral and dental health.
  12. Should be able to work effectively in healthcare teams and manage a team when necessary.
  13. Should possess sufficient professional skills at an international level.
  14. Should be able to perform first aid in oral and dental health-related emergencies and, when necessary, refer the patient appropriately.

ATTİTUDE OBJECTİVES:

  1. Should be able to approach patients and colleagues with empathy, understanding, and respect.
  2. Should be able to establish effective communication with colleagues, other healthcare personnel, patients, and the community.
  3. Should respect the rights of both healthy individuals and patients.
  4. Should act in accordance with professional and societal ethical values.
  5. Should establish open, honest, and consistent relationships with all stakeholders.
  6. Should adopt the responsibility of advocating for the rights of social institutions and individuals.
  7. Should be able to cooperate with relevant institutions and organizations to improve the oral and dental health of the community and individuals.
  8. Should comprehend the importance of valid scientific methods and evidence-based practices in healthcare.
  9. Should act in accordance with medical ethical principles in relations with colleagues, other healthcare personnel, patients, and patients’ relatives.
