Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Niğde Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Niğde Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, NÖHÜ Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, and NÖHÜ Ayhan Şahenk Agricultural Application and Research Center jointly organized the "Agro-Tourism Applications" program on August 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The Agro-Tourism Workshop, held for the first time in Turkey, aimed to promote Niğde province's agricultural potential and agricultural practices nationally and internationally through the tourism sector.
As part of the program, local and international tourists selected by the Niğde Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism participated in a hands-on harvest of fruits and vegetables grown at the Ayhan Şahenk Agricultural Application and Research Center. During the training, participants learned about the state of regional agriculture, Niğde's agricultural resources, how crops are grown, harvesting processes, and post-harvest products. After participating in field tomato and pepper harvests, they also witnessed tomato paste production processes.
Various products produced by the Hüdavent Hatun Women's Cooperative, produced in Niğde province and produced by the people of Niğde, were also shared with the participants. The program, which attracted considerable attention from both local and national media, expressed their satisfaction and expressed their hope that similar events would be held.
The program then continued with an "Agro-Tourism Workshop" held at our faculty.
