WoCo2026 Day 10: Technical Visit to Turkish Genetics

International participants in Turkey for the 69th IAAS World Congress (WoCo2026) visited Turkish Genetics Seed Company in Yenişehir district of Bursa on the 10th day of the congress. The company is a significant player in the Turkish seed industry, specializing in hybrid corn and oilseed sunflower breeding, R&D, and high-yield seed development programs.

During the technical visit, participants received detailed information about the company's seed breeding programs, genetic development processes, research activities, and modern seed production technologies. Presentations by experts explained the methods used in developing climate change-adaptable, high-yield, and disease-resistant varieties. They also examined the production, processing, and quality control stages of hybrid corn and sunflower seeds on-site.

Agricultural students and young professionals from different countries had the opportunity to closely observe the role of science and technology in agricultural production, while also gaining important information on sustainable agricultural practices and global food security. The technical tour enabled participants to see innovative approaches in the seed industry firsthand and strengthened international knowledge sharing.
